My favorite metal smith has whole walls that are metal faced in his home. So, if you do want a real metal application for something and you build a relationship with a metal fabricator then I think it will open more doors to you for considering a variety of products and items. Your intro to sources otherwise not known to you is probably going to be through a metal smith who quotes a scope of work for you. Metals and its many looks is a huge category of design to explore.
